Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. A mathematical analysis is given of an analog model of retinal processing constructed recently in terms of a resistive lattice network by Mead and Mahowald. The basic equations are written down for a general lattice, and their continuum limit is described. For linear resistors the general solution is given in terms of an arbitrary varying illumination input; special cases are discussed in detail. The model is extended to include ganglion cells of two different sorts, and comparison with physiological data is then discussed.<>
