Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to provide a detailed conceptual description of a laptop based testing system. This laptop tester´s purpose is to augment the present, sometimes cumbersome, battery of testers that are used today. The architecture of this design is based on the utilization of COTS devices to keep down the cost as well as to further assure availability of the system components. The technical description is broken up into four primary sections. Section I concentrates on the parts of the tester that are used to perform bus verification and bus control tests. Section II concentrates on the security features available. Section III is devoted to the special features included with the laptop. Section IV describes methods for testing the Global Positioning System (GPS). Section V is devoted to other options available that could allow thorough testing of MIL-STD-1760 interfaces. These sections discuss the overall design criteria of the component(s) used in that particular portion of the system as well as address the major benefits provided to end users
