Abstract :
There are some intrinsic similarities between the transaction processing and mobile computing environments. Transaction processing being the more established field suggests that these similarities can be exploited by applying existing algorithms to the newer field of mobile computing. The authors present a high performance transaction processing algorithm (particularly, for disconnected transactions) for mobile computing systems by adapting the field call algorithm which has a proven record for a fast transaction processing with high availability of data. The algorithm is carefully modeled using input/output automata theory to present how each action in the system can be designed and be interacted with other actions to provide the intended features
