Abstract :
It is shown that due to the development of digital multiprogramme TV broadcasting and a substantial increase of data traffic, TV viewers are receiving a large amount of information. For the effective usage of this information viewer responses and transmission of corresponding messages are necessary. The interest of information sources in return channels is pointed out. The importance of the study is related to the construction of new interactive TV systems having hundreds of thousands of return narrow-band digital channels connecting TV viewers and TV data users with sources of information. It is reported that up to now the tendency to use cable TV and telephony for these purposes has dominated. A new complex approach to interactive TV systems construction, taking into account the potentialities of cable TV, telephone networks, cellular networks, low orbital satellite systems, etc., is proposed. The possibility of using receiving antennas as transmitting ones while providing TV viewers with low power digital radio transmitters as elements of TV sets and mobile radio tranceivers is also stressed.
