Abstract
The clocking schemes and signal waveforms of adiabatic circuits are different from those of standard CMOS circuits. In order that adiabatic logic and standard CMOS circuits are co-existed on a single chip to utilize the strengths of various low-power approaches, the interface circuits that convert signals between adiabatic logic and standard CMOS circuits are demanded. This paper investigates design approaches of the low-power interface circuits in terms of energy dissipation. Several new low-power adiabatic-CMOS and CMOS-adiabatic interfaces are proposed. With TSMC 0.18 mum CMOS technology, energy consumption of the proposed interface circuits has relatively large savings over a wide range of frequencies, as compared with previously reported circuits.
