Title :
Rechargeable battery legislative and regulatory issues
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
Rechargeable batteries and rechargeable consumer products are regulated under a complex system of state, federal and international laws. These laws are designed to promote safety and the environmentally sound recycling or proper disposal of rechargeable batteries and battery-powered products. These laws affect virtually every person involved with rechargeable products, including manufacturers, distributors, retailers, consumers, recyclers, transporters and waste management authorities. Many states have passed statutes regulating rechargeable batteries. Many other states have issued regulations on the subject. Keeping current with this rapidly growing body of law has become increasingly difficult and here, therefore, the author presents guidelines on such legislative battery issues
