Abstract :
Multimedia services are being increasingly provided to mobile users with the emergence of high speed wireless communications technologies such as HSPA+ and LTE. The LTE specification has been developed to provide high quality services to multimedia users in the wireless network. To support high quality multimedia services, QoS and QoE are essential factors that must be considered by mobile service providers and network operators. One of the important issues in QoS/QoE in the wireless network is to maintain a certain level of service quality as well as efficient radio resource utilization, in which the downlink scheduling algorithm is involved. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of various downlink scheduling algorithms considering different speeds of mobile users and the varying number of UEs in the wireless network, in particular, the LTE network. Simulation results are presented and analyzed to compare the performance of scheduling algorithms for video/voice transport over the LTE network.
