Abstract
A knowledge based system (KBS) that combines fuzzy processing with rule-based expert system is developed to provide an improved decision aid for evaluating risk for life insurance. This expert system application illustrates the use of FuzzyCLIPS tool to build a knowledge based decision support system, capable of possessing fuzzy components to improve user interactions and KBS performance. The design of the fuzzy solution consists of a CLIPS rule-based system combined with fuzzy logic rules. The results employing FuzzyCLIPS are compared with the results obtained from the solution of the problem using traditional numerical equations. This paper briefly describes the problem, proposes solution, considers the test scenarios, presents the results and conclusions, and provides a sample output of the software product
