Abstract :
This work presents the implementation of an Human Machine Interface (HMI) for monitoring the functional states of an electric vehicle (EV), this HMI is an effort for establish the possible methodologies for improve the EV performance at energy level. Taking as reference the governmental challenges related with the energy demand, ecological politics and the insertion of new technologies to the power grid, a pilot EV has been developed that has been dotted with an HMI. This component gives driving advanced assistance and is a platform for data to information transformation, which is supported by a graphical user interface, improving the driver´s decision making process, his driving experience and the perception of the environment where the EV is being used. At the same time, the HMI can register the EV´s movement dynamics, registering this information into a local database and into a spreadsheet in a reliable way, this information can be accessed by the user at any time. The HMI was developed using LabVIEW® and the communication protocol CANOpen.
