Abstract
A two-dimensional parabolic wavelet transform was developed in order to concentrate the energy associated with hyperbolic traces typical to subsurface radar images. Since it does not satisfy the orthogonal transform condition, the inverse transform was designed using the Wiener filter. Nonlinear filtering schemes are then applied to the obtained wavelet coefficients in order to reduce the effect of noise and clutter. Its performance was examined with numerical simulations, and compared with general noise reduction methods
