Abstract :
In this work, design aspects, simulation and measured results of thin planar UHF RFID tags suitable for mounting on any platform are presented. Such tag designs are of great importance in UHF RFID where low tag profile in harsh electromagnetic environment is required. The tag antenna is separated by a dielectric substrate of less than 1% of the wavelength, lying entirely above the ground plane. The proposed structures port impedance can be easily matched to most RFID ICs complex impedance, and read range close to the maximum quoted for a given system are achieved even when attached to lossy or conductive objects.
