  • Abstract
This interesting publication on today???s knowledge summarizes physical models of electrical breakdown in insulating liquids as published during the last 30 years. Older research activity in this field contributed to the description of the phenomena of partial discharges and breakdown in insulating liquids and its comparison with discharges in gases, especially in air. Thus, at the High-Voltage Laboratory of Dresden Technical University, the breakdown phenomena and mechanisms were intensively investigated using sensitive current pulse measurement and discharge figures (Schlieren method of shadow graphs, photograms and photomultiplier measurements) [1]???[3]. The following supplementary comments are based on these investigations.
