Abstract :
This paper introduces an active pixel sensor designed as a still-image sensor for digital photography. It can be implemented in a standard digital CMOS technology, without analog components such as capacitors. An experimental prototype for gray scale imaging is integrated in a 1.2 /spl mu/m n-well CMOS process. This circuit operates from a +5 V supply and includes an electronic shutter. The image sensor can be adapted for video with a simple redesign of the control logic to modify the timing.
