Abstract :
Some theoretical and practical aspects of the development of isotropic electric field probes regarding the influence of supporting dielectric materials are presented. Three effects of the normally neglected field distortion caused by the support will be demonstrated and a modified construction are proposed to compensate these effects. In order to get an insight into the problems a short review of some construction principles are discussed briefly
