Abstract :
This paper presents a new type of brake applied to heavy truck driven by wheel motor. Based on the theory of heat transfer, three-dimensional transient heat transfer model of brake was built. The temperature field of emergency braking was simulated by using Abaqus. Different from traditional form, the brake system is arranged in the right of wheel motor output shaft other than the output of wheel reducer. Single piston and double-acting brakes were designed which originality integrate service brake, parking brake and emergency brake. The system has the advantage of high level integration and is easy to replace. Compared with traditional brakes, the maximum system pressure can be reduced from 10Mpa to 0.7Mpa. The FEM analysis result shows that the refined mesh leads to the reduction of braking disk temperature, and the changes of temperature field tends to relatively stable when the mesh grid down to a certain extent. Finally, the temperature of braking disk would be reduced 100°C, when convection heat transfer is considered.
