Abstract :
In the future, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) will replace conventional vehicles. This massive deployment of PHEVs will create challenges of integration on power system. A major one is the aging rate of the transformers which supply residential areas. So, it´s necessary to propose solutions to minimize the impacts caused by PHEVs. This paper assesses the benefits on the life duration of a transformer when applying Housing Peak Shaving (HPS) algorithms. These ones are applied at each house which composed the residential electric grid supplied by the low voltage transformer. HPS algorithms reduce subscribed power of houses and minimize the aging rate of the transformer. So, it can be assimilated to both Vehicle-to-Home - V2H and Vehicle-to-Grid - V2G concepts in Smart Grids.
