Abstract :
A model 295 diesel engine was used to perform a comparison of fuel consumption and engine exhaust (soot and oxides of nitrogen) emissions for diesel and diesohol in diesel blend (ethanol) fuels. And an in-use YC6700C3 minibus was used to perform a comparison of free acceleration exhausts of visible pollutants, too. The data collected here indicates that the diesel engine fueled with diesohol leads to proper decrease in fuel consumption and significant decrease in the emissions of soot and NOx at engine speed of 1500 r/min while leads to proper increase in the emission of NOx at engine speed of 1200 r/min under a full engine load. Besides, reducing fuel supply advance angles properly is beneficial to improve economic performances of the engine and reduce the emissions of soot and NOx. The diesohol leads to significant decrease in free acceleration exhausts of visible pollutants from an in-use diesel vehicle. Therefore diesohol is a promising alternative fuel for diesel engine.
