Abstract
This /spl Sigma//spl Delta/ modulator design explores the limits of both the supply voltage and the current consumption of such a modulator in relation to its performance. The modulator is intended for use in portable telephones. The signal bandwidth is 300-3400 Hz. Its input is directly connected to the microphone (max. 40 mVrms). With the intended signal-to-noise ratio of 80 dB this means that the input-referred noise level should not exceed 4 /spl mu/Vrms.
