Abstract :
The electromagnetic fields due to the electrostatic discharge (ESD) between charged metals are significantly affected by the presence of the metal. For such ESD fields, we have previously analyzed them, using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, and have revealed that the metals increase the field level according to the metal dimension. In this paper, we analyze the ESD fields due to the metals attached by ferrite cores, which are being commonly used for electromagnetic interference (EMI) countermeasure. The computation results show that the cores attached close to the discharge gap suppress the magnetic field level
