Abstract :
This paper presents a mechanism to make efficient use of the network resource by reallocating the backup LSP bandwidths to lower priority connections over separated links in network that support Differentiated Services-aware MPLS Traffic Engineering and 1:1 protection switching. Principles of the bandwidth reallocation mechanism and proposed bandwidth allocation algorithm are presented in this paper. Compared with a typical bandwidth allocation algorithm, the proposed algorithm can not only make more efficient use of the backup path resources, but also guarantee the QoS of the protection switching connection. Our algorithm has been implemented in the C programming language, and the experimental results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm
