Abstract :
The necessary condition for the formation of strong lightning current and the lightning discharge process before and after flashover of a semiconductor lightning eliminator (SLE) rod are given. It is indicated that SLE has the capability to limit the main discharge lightning current and its rapid current changing rate. The corresponding triggered test oscillograms are presented
