Abstract :
This paper presents a rotor position detecting method for a salient-pole brushless DC motor at a standstill and lower speed conditions respectively. The position angle estimation is based on the model reference adaptive system in a rotational coordinate reference. At standstill and lower speed regions, the position detecting technique is based on the function of the rotor position. By using the detecting techniques, the motor can be controlled in a lower speed region without using a position sensor. To confirm these proposed algorithms, the experimental and simulated results are shown
