Abstract :
Telecommunications installations have become highly susceptible to surges caused by lightning because of the increasing use of solid-state devices in them. To protect them from such lightning damage, it is necessary to experimentally simulate actual lightning-related situations, and determine a suitable countermeasure for each case. This paper describes some damage to telecommunications installations from lightning and presents countermeasures on experimental simulation
