Abstract
In this paper, we show that ultraviolet-transparent coating (UVTC) fibers are used for fabricating fiber Bragg gratings in which the grating growth is different from that of using the general photosensitivity fibers required to strip off the coating. This is due to the different fiber strains created by the coating to be heated in the process of laser exposure. The UVTC fiber Bragg gratings can be utilized in high-strain or special fiber-optic sensors
