Abstract :
A comb-shaped slot RFID tag antenna is presented in this paper. The slot is cut onto the ground plane of a single-side FR4 printed circuit board (PCB) with the size of L×W, and the parametric studies are conducted to investigate the effect of the geometrical parameters on the input impedance of the antenna by using Ansoft HFSS software. Both simulated and measured results show that the antenna prototype achieves good impedance matching and expected radiation over the UHF RFID band of 902 MHz to 928 MHz, and the maximum gain is about 1.2 dBi at 915MHz. Under the condition of 4 W radiation power (EIRP) and 12μW chip sensitivity, the maximum reading range of the tag prototype using the proposed antenna and a microchip of ATA5590 reaches 6.8 m.
