Abstract :
We present a new approach to study electromagnetic wave transients in multiple layer shields in the time domain. New analytical solutions of Maxwell´s equations modeling the wave propagation for arbitrary waveform functions in conductive media are applied. This provides new insights into physics of shielding by distinguishing between main wave parts and diffusive wave parts. Without loss of accuracy the method allows semi-numerical results even for Dirac-shaped pulses within a coarse grid. We derive impulse responses and demonstrate transient field computation via convolution
