Abstract
Shielded enclosures are specially designed to reduce electromagnetic noise from entering or leaving the enclosures. New enclosures have to be tested for their shielding effectiveness before they can be used. Such shielding effectiveness tests are tedious due to the broad frequency spectrum involved and the need to utilise various equipment and accessories during the test process. Shielding effectiveness test is usually carried out manually and the test officer needs to be stationed at the test site throughout to control and operate the test instruments. This paper describes an automated shielding effectiveness test system for shielded enclosures. The automated test system developed has made shielding effectiveness tests more user-friendly, efficient and less prone to human errors. It has also made the test simple enough to be carried out by personnel with minimum training
