  • Abstract
Work in the Advanced Perception Unit (APU) of BT Laboratories (BTL) is a mixture of pure research and related development tasks. Many of the projects undertaken require a great deal of experimental investigation and interpretation of results. Typically, systems under development are simulated and modelled before implementation in order to efficiently eliminate those research interests which should not be further developed. For all of these reasons an efficient environment within which to develop future algorithms is essential. During the last 5 years the work of the Auditory Modelling team has made extensive use of the LabVIEW development environment. As the work of the group extends to visual and multi-modal modelling, this environment continues to prove flexible enough to remain a principal development tool
