The State Rocket Centre “Academician V.P. Makeyev Design Bureau” is developing the “SPS-SPUTNIK” satellite personal communication system. The article throws light on the system´s features and its position among the satellite communication systems, the system´s structure and capabilities, orbital structure of the space segment and ground components, setting-up of a radio channel and facilities for system deployment based on converted serial missiles and the independent ground launching complex
