Abstract :
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system using minimum-shift keying (MSK) is introduced to reduce the bit error rate (BER) on channels with phase noise and carrier frequency offset (CFO); it is known that the presence of phase noise and CFO is a main limiting factor in performance of OFDM systems. FFT-based OFDM-MSK transmitter and receiver structure are also proposed in this paper for the reason of reducing the system complexity. The BER performance and spectrum property are compared to OFDM-QPSK. The results show that the BER of OFDM-MSK outperforms OFDM-QPSK on channels with phase noise and CFO and with a faster roll-offside-lobe spectrum.
