Abstract
This paper focuses on the implementation of a controller-based power factor correction (PFC) boost converter. Both CCM and DCM modes are operated in the mixed -conduction mode with fixed switching frequency. The load condition is determined by detecting the load current. The converter operates in CCM mode when the load is heavy. It switches to the DCM mode when the converter detects the load is light. The measured results show that the proposed dual-mode converter control strategy has good performance in power factor correction and power conversion efficiency.
