Abstract
Within the German funded project "OptiCon" an innovative electro-optical interconnection and assembly technology for printed circuit boards (PCB) has been developed. The integration of optical waveguides in PCB opens the door to a hybrid assembly technology and provides the scalability of on-board-bandwidth but also other technical benefits. This paper describes one possible way for the implementation of electrical-optical PCBs in the production- and Assembly industry of today. The current status of work will be demonstrated in the presentation mentioning next steps for a successful integration- of the described technology.
