Abstract
This paper proposes a new mathematical model of service systems (SSs) based on theory of I/O systems within the mathematical systems theory, and furnishes both a conceptual framework and a mathematical framework for describing and classifying types and aspects of `value´ of SSs. In fact, three types of values, that is, `stakeholder value,´ `connection value,´ and `substitution value´ are proposed, and within the conceptual and the mathematical frameworks, `road maps´ for developing new methods for evaluating such aspects of value of SSs as `profitability,´ `marketability,´ `connectability,´ `completeness,´ `replaceability,´ and `uniqueness´ are developed, respectively. For more development of the proposed mathematical model of SSs and the proposed conceptual and mathematical frameworks for dealing with the value of SSs, moreover, a concept of service creating SSs (scSSs), which are in `higher´ class of SSs, is described in the proposed model of SSs.
