Abstract :
Effects of solubilization treatment and intermittent operation on clogging problem in lab-scale vertical constructed wetland were presented in this paper. The infiltrate rates were improved 3-5 times by solubilization treatment while 1-3 times by intermittent operation (resting), which indicated that both of the approaches could alleviate clogging problem to a certain degree. Furthermore, after solubilization treatment, the concentrations of elution increased rapidly and then decreased with operation time. And the recovered cycle of the treatment performance in wetland models was within 7-10 days after solubilization treatment, while after intermittent operation the recovery cycle was within 2-5 days. However, it should pay attention to the high concentration elution after solubilization treatment and the damage to plant after intermittent operation (resting 15 days).
