Abstract :
We developed a system for characterizing the dielectric properties of various materials by transmission imaging using wavelengths in the millimeter range from 25 GHz to 65 GHz. By using this system, we confirmed that the difference in the transmission between commercial pork containing only water and pork containing ethanol was significant and that we could monitor and image the penetration of ethanol into pork. These experiments suggest the possibility of applying millimeter waves to the inspection of tissue specimens in medicine and biology.
