Abstract :
AVS-M is the most recent video coding standard developed by the audio and video coding standard workgroup of China (AVS), which promises improved performance close to H.264/AVC with lower complexity. In this paper, complexity is estimated for macroblock-based AVS-M Jiben profile decoder based on theoretical analysis and extensive experiments on a general-purpose processor. The total memory required by AVS-M decoder is presented first, then the number of basic operations consumed by key decoding subfunction is used to estimate the computational complexity. Finally, we presents complexity distribution of the reference decoder based on extensive experiments. The results are valuable for complexity estimation of the AVS-M decoder realization and optimization on target platforms.
