  • Abstract
    Numerous advanced board level interconnects were introduced, to meet different. applications, by using multilayer copper traces or optical waveguides as the interconnect media between components. With economic criteria and efficiency concerns increasing, polymeric waveguides are playing a more and more important role in this area. The properties and characterization of polymeric waveguides are the key issues in losses incurred during reliability tests of board level interconnections. The present work mainly focuses on the investigation of the quality of optical interconnect layers to meet the reliability requirements for FR4 rigid circuit boards and flexible printed circuits.
