Abstract
An optical performance monitoring method based on synchronous sampling has been introduced. The method estimates Q factor and bit error rate (BER) values that correlate well with experimental results. The various measurement system errors have been analyzed and correction factors derived that reduce the difference between the estimated and measured values.
