Abstract :
The new surface texture plays important role more and more in the modern engineering product. Therefore the measurement and characterization of new surface texture become increasingly important. For the characteristics acquisition of surface texture, the watershed segmentation method is introduced to segment the surface texture according to the latest draft international standard of areal surface texture evaluation. The surface texture can be characterized by the parameters of 3D-MOTIF. For the over-segmentation of surface texture, an areal combination algorithm based on gray value pretreatment is presented and it is effective to combine the over-segmented regions which are unimportant and tiny. And then it contributes to further extract the parameters of the main features of the surface structure. The effectiveness of this combination algorithm is verified by application examples.
