Title :
Practical Application of Synchronized Phasor Measurement
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
This paper describes the actual and possible applications of synchronized phasor measurements, or synchrophasors, which provides a method for comparing phase and sequence values from anywhere on a power system. It offers the optimal power system control. The degree to which it can be made useful depends on how far and how fast the data can be moved to the location were the information is processed, displayed, and analyzed. The method of collecting and using this information impacts communications and data processing requirements. These requirements can vary from a serial cable and hand-held calculator to a 1 Gbps Ethernet network with multi-tiered data concentrators and server. This paper also details the communication and processing already in place or necessary for a particular application
