Abstract :
This paper introduces a new efficient method for estimating the local ridge-line density in digital images. A mathematical characterization of the local frequency of sinusoidal signals is given, and a 2D-model is developed in order to approximate the ridge-line patterns. Experimental results obtained through a discrete implementation of the method are presented both in terms of accuracy and efficiency
