Abstract :
Many soils content large particles, such as colluvial landslide materials, distributed in the world widely, mainly loose deposits which content of gravelly soils, which are difficult to get mechanics parameters by soil test. As the material is widely different from homogeneous and continuous soil, and includes many large particles which poses difficulties in situ sample acquisition and in common laboratory geomaterial tests. While the particle size beyond the test apparatus allowing for, the particles must be excised, and only fine particles are included in the test soil sample, it is unclear that can the test result reflect the real soil properties. The effect of the large particles excised is evaluated by computer simulation based on the particle flow code (PFC) numerical analysis method. The result shows that it is hard to evaluate the original soil behave by the test of sample with large particles are excised..
