Abstract :
This paper provides an analysis of system behavior and improvements for Machine to Machine (M2M) communications using a satellite network for global coverage. An experimental set-up with real M2M Terminals (M2MT) was used to mimic an Internet of Things (IoT) scenario. System loading, data throughput and delivery times are derived from experimental data. The paper analyses the system behavior in a loaded channel case. The paper then details the improvements that can be achieved for the uplink channel using successive interference cancellation techniques.
