Abstract :
In this paper, the authors propose a new AC-DC power converter of high power factor and high efficiency by using a partial resonant method. The input current waveform in the proposed circuit is of a discontinuous sinusoidal form in proportion to magnitude of the AC input voltage under constant duty cycle switching. Thereupon, the input power factor is nearly unity and its control circuit is simple. Also the switching devices in the proposed circuit are operated with soft switching using the partial resonant method. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of the system is high. The partial resonant circuit makes use of a inductor using step up and L2SC (lossless snubber condenser). The switching control technique of the power converter is simplified for the switches to drive in a constant duty cycle. Some computer simulation and experimental results are included to confirm the validity of the analytical results
