Abstract :
A novel ISI-free pulse, whose spectrum has tunable roll-off characteristics, is presented. It is shown that for an arbitrary value of excess bandwidth, the proposed pulse achieves a smaller probability of error for pulse detection in the presence of a timing error than with the raised cosine pulse, the ldquobetter thanrdquo raised cosine pulse, and their linear combination.
