Abstract
This paper aims to contribute to the practice of biometrics-based physical access control system design. Such a system is the distributed network of biometric-based assistants. Assistants are considered to be decision making support components in a system. In this paper, the techniques for accelerating decision making support for remote temperature measures are proposed. These techniques are based on semantic interpretation of biometric data, in particular, infrared images, implemented as accelerators using field-programmable gate arrays(FPGAs). Semantics are based on the theory of belief functions, concerned with the problem of representing and manipulating uncertain information.
