Abstract
There are many reasons electric utilities make system improvements. Some are progressive in improvements, others are more conservative. Regardless of the approach, each utility performs planning studies and as a result, comes up with listings of required system improvements. When this list becomes long, there is difficulty in deciding the order of completion of required system improvement projects. As a result, an objective approach to prioritizing system improvements has been developed. This review discusses factors leading to the development, the actual development, implementation, and examples of the prioritization approach.
