Abstract :
The sharing of information to support business processes execution is a central challenge to many organizations. Enterprise Content Management Systems (ECMS) hold promise in this regard, offering support and approach that enables efficient sharing of business-related information. However, there is still a significant lack of knowledge on how to efficiently make use of ECMS for sharing information that support organizations´ business operations. In this paper, we investigate the ways ECMS is used for sharing information that support organization ntegration and standardization processes. A qualitative case study research approach is employed. Our findings indicate that in organizations that are highly integrated ECMS is useful for sharing information that supports the interdependence between units. While in organizations that are highly standardized ECMS is useful for sharing information about those standardized processes. The finding is significant for business and IT managers because it will guide them with ways to use ECMS and gain more benefits from it.
