Abstract :
A new traffic shaping mechanism for congestion control in ATM networks is studied. Performance measures such as the burstiness reduction factor and the mean cell waiting time of the proposed shaper are discussed. In this current exploratory stage of the study, the shaper is used to shape the different mixes of multimedia traffic as well as self-similar LAN-LAN traffic
