Abstract :
In this work we study a high-gain adaptive controller for surge suppression in a centrifugal compressor with variable speed. We consider a system configuration in which the outlet throttle valve is the actuator and the total pressure at the compressor inlet is considered as the measured output. By using a third order compressor model in which the spool dynamics is considered with a proposed nonlinear speed control law. We prove the convergence of the control design finally the system performance will be validated by means of numerical simulations in the presence of time varying disturbances.
